It was in my previous residence; a faint sunrise ray was slanting across my bedroom wall. Birds were heard chirping, and the neighborhood was awake, there, I heard my mother’s gentle morning call for her children. As everything would start that way, it was followed by a meal together, where exchanging of smiles was seen in memory, along with the chuckles and the spilling thoughts from within. That was when I saw nothing from ere long. In these present circumstances, she rose, albeit reluctant from understanding her children and their hidden concerns. It was a family of three in days gone by, where did it go now? Where did it go wrong?

Determinism asks if our current behaviors are predetermined or a result of our past experiences, specifically childhood experiences. On the other hand, free choice talks about free will in which people can choose who they want to be and what they want to do. This can be illustrated in a Greek myth about Oedipus. When he was still a baby, he was left in the mountains by his father, expecting him to die – however, another family took him in their hands. When he grew up, he found out his prophecy in which he would kill his father and marry his mother. Scared of this, he flew away to avoid it from happening, yet, coincidentally, he bumped with his real father and ended up killing him and marrying his real mother. With this myth, it can be thought of as both determinism and free choice. However, in a part of the play, Oedipus had an argument with himself as while one can’t avoid one’s fate, one still have the free will to respond to it.
